For three generations Genecand has prided itself in a job well done. In 1929, Charles and Germaine Genecand set up a delicatessen. Twenty- three years later (in 1953), their nephew, Charles and his wife Gislaine Genecand took over and expanded the shop. They provided the first catering and special meal services in 1958.

Due to their success and the increase in trade in their catering services, they expanded their production premises in 1979. After graduating from the Hotel School of Geneva, Gislain Genecand, the 3rd generation of Genecands, joined the company in 1989.

As catering services became more and more fashionable and the number of loyal clients steadily increased, the company moved site to Carouge in 2004 and, in 2005, opened up a new restaurant there serving a varied selection of daily menus.
